These files are archives of the mh-users mailing list (which is now also gatewayed to the USENET comp.mail.mh newsgroup). These aren't complete. If you have copies of messages that aren't in this archive, please send me mail; I'll arrange to get them and try to add them to the archives. Each file has the messages for one calendar year. The archives were created with MH packf(1). Then, they were compressed with gzip(1). To copy the messages, be sure to set ftp to "binary" transfer. Here are the steps to restore the messages into a folder named mh-users: % gunzip mh-users.86.gz % inc -file mh-users.86 +mh-users You can also just uncompress the file or use gzcat(1) without inc(1) -- the messages are separated with lines of 4 control-A characters (^A^A^A^A). You can browse the uncompressed files with msh: % msh mh-users.86 Now you can search with pick(1), read with show(1), etc. The messages were formatted with this mhl(1) format file that deletes some components from the original headers (like Received:) to save space: width=10000 ignores=received,return-path,replied,forwarded Date: To: From: Subject: extras:nocomponent : body:nocomponent,width=10000 If you have questions, suggestions, etc. please send me mail. --Jerry Peek, O'Reilly & Associates, Inc., jerry@ora.com 1 March 1991
