Deluxe Edition

  What is the Deluxe Edition?



Vector Linux DELUXE now comes in two Editions: Deluxe SOHO and Deluxe Standard. Both are available from our CD-Store. They are intended for professionals, extending the SOHO and Standard editions with over 350 MB of additional software. The extra applications can be installed individually to build the system exactly as you need it.

Featured 'Deluxe' Applications available on the second CD includes FreeRock Gnome 2.10.2 which includes the Evolution contact manager and email program and a wealth of other gnome applications (over 200 packages). For bleeding edge types there are the Enlightenment 17 packages (with vector customizations and easy installer), the 2.6.13 kernel sources and applications including Opera, Acrobat Reader, prebuilt nVidia drivers and RealPlayer. We even have KDE-3.5 as an upgrade option.
Support VL. Feel good. CD sales and VectorLinux "Goodies" are the only form of revenue available to VectorLinux to help offset the costs of running this small business. The purchase of either of the VectorLinux Deluxe Editions is also probably a good idea for those with a slow Internet connection, where downloading an entire ISO file is not a viable option.

Note: As at April 2006, the most recent deluxe editions are VectorLinux 5.1 Deluxe and VectorLinux SOHO v5.1.2 Deluxe.

  Requirements
 
The requirements for the Deluxe Standard Edition can vary according to what you decide to install, however we would recommend a system that meets the following requirements so that you can enjoy even the most demanding applications:
  • Processor: Pentium III compatible or better (so you may use an AMD processor).
  • Hard Disk: 3GB for the entire system, plus some more for your data.
  • Memory: 128MB minimum, 256 MB for comfort.
  • Video card and Monitor capable of 1024x768 resolution, 24 bit color.
  • Standard mouse, keyboard, sound card, CDROM, etc.
 
The requirements for the Deluxe SOHO Edition can vary according to what you decide to install, however we would recommend a system that meets the following requirements so that you can enjoy even the most demanding applications:
  • Processor: Pentium III compatible or better (so you may use an AMD processor).
  • Hard Disk: 5GB for the entire system, plus some more for your data.
  • Memory: 256 MB for comfort, 512MB for speed.
  • Video card and Monitor capable of 1024x768 resolution, 24 bit color.
  • Standard mouse, keyboard, sound card, CDROM, etc.
