+------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Important APT Package Information | | Ryan W. Maple | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Introduction ------------ This document is intended to outline known issues, bugs, and "gotchas" with packages in the APT repository. ALL USERS should read this document before attempting to use any of the available packages. It is assumed that the user has read the general APT README: http://ftp.engardelinux.org/pub/engarde/people/ryan/engarde/README acl, attr --------- These packages provide POSIX ACLs for ext2 and ext3. To use POSIX ACLs you must enable them at mount time: # mount /dev/md3 /storage -oacl,user_xattr # mount | grep storage /dev/md3 on /storage type ext2 (rw,acl,user_xattr) Once the filesystem is mounted with acl/xattr enabled you may use the tools provided in these packages. kernel26 -------- This package provides a 2.6 Linux Kernel. IMPORTANT NOTE -- Before installing this package you MUST have all of the GDSN updates applied or it will NOT work. Installing this package will add a 'standard26' target to lilo.conf. KNOWN BUG -- You must run 'depmod -a' after your first reboot into 2.6 before modules will work. Networking will not work without modules so it suggested that you have console access to the machine before booting into the 'standard26' kernel. jfsutils, reiserfsprogs, xfsprogs --------------------------------- These packages allow you to create JFS, ReiserFS, and XFS filesystems. +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ $Id: README-PACKAGES,v 1.3 2004/02/06 19:13:35 rwm Exp $
